A day in Kuala Lumpur

At the moment, I’m backpacking in the Malaysian countryside but started my journey in the busteling capital Kuala Lumpur. It is known for being a hotspot for various of clashing cultures and traditions, meaning that there is something new to see and taste around every corner.

My hotel was situated outside the city, which I loved because Kuala Lumpur is a very busy place. After a 45min bus ride, I found myself in the melting pot of different cultures. You can find buddhist temples, people celebrating Ramadan and Chinese food side by side! This city is actually quite different from most parts of Malaysia, it is full of technology and skyscrapers and not too much nature. Every building seems bigger than the other, but the highest ones were the Petronas towers. I had to walk for a while to get to there but they were easy to spot because of their height. I would definitely recommend visiting these lovely buildings if you ever find yourself in Malaysia!

I needed a polaroid of them, haha!

It was a really warm day so I decided to grab something to drink and eat next to the towers (I needed air condition!). It was only lunchtime so I did not feel like having fried rice and noodles. Luckily I found a great restaurant called "the apartment" nearby. The restaurant had a lot of vegetarian options and some vegan too. They even had some power juices! The food tasted like heaven and if you are a bit tired of traditional Malaysian food, this is the place for you!

After having a bite to eat I was ready to explore the city! I found several normal shops like Sephora and Topshop, but I wanted to see more authentic side of Malaysia, so I took a cab to China town. To be honest I was a bit disappointed, I only saw a small part of China Town but it was not much to brag about. The market was so targeted to tourists. The atmosphere was not what I was hoping for but on my way out of the town I met a lovely lady who sold my a hand sewn bag, and we had a chat about the country.

To conclude, I think Kuala Lumpur is an amazing city! There is so much delicious food and breathtaking architecture, I could just walk around in the city for days. Everywhere you turn there are things to see, taste, smell and touch! I really can't get enough of this place!
